West Hawaii County Band offers a free concert this evening at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona.
The band will present the music of the famed big band-era in its first monthly concert of the year. The show starts at 6:30 p.m.
The West Hawaii County Band is a community band conducted by Lisa Archuletta and includes approximately 20 musicians from all walks of life. The band rehearses weekly and performs regular monthly concerts at Hale Halawai.
The repertoire of the band includes march favorites, traditional brass band music, big band tunes and Hawaiian traditional tunes.
The band will also perform at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at Hulihee Palace; 6:30 p.m. March 11 at Hale Halawai; 2 p.m March 20 at Hulihee Palace; and 6:30 p.m. April 15 at Hale Halawai.
